Environmental Assessments. Environmental Impact Statements
Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
Kaimana Environmental Solutions (KES) specializes in the preparation of environmental review documents including Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) in compliance with Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) 343 and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). KES personnel have prepared environmental review documents for a variety of clients including State, County and federal agencies as well as private applicants.
KES personnel have completed numerous Phase I environmental site assessments on all major Hawaiian islands in accordance with ASTM Standard E1527-21: Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Processand 40 CFR Part 312: All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) rule for a variety of property types ranging from commercial/industrial, large resort, mixed use to conservation lands.
Environmental Permitting
Phase II ESA. Soil Sampling, Vapor Sampling, groundwater Sampling and Monitoring Well Development and Removal
KES provides environmental permitting services including, but not limited to:

Shoreline Setback Permits
KES personnel have extensive experience collecting soil, vapor and ground/surface water sampling investigations in compliance with the State of Hawaii DOH Technical Guidance Manual, and EPA guidance. KES is also familiar with local landfill testing requirements to assure timely and accurate landfill acceptance of impacted soil from construction sites, industrial properties and unknown land use history locations.
KES personnel also specialize in the installation, monitoring and decommissioning of groundwater monitoring wells in compliance with DOH and EPA standards.

KES personnel are State certified asbestos and lead-based paint Inspectors, and have extensive experience collecting and characterizing other hazardous materials in accordance with State and Federal regulations/guidelines. KES also prepares construction specifications for the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. KES provides air monitoring for a variety of regulated chemicals.
